The Brazen House
Founder. Inventor. Chief Technology Officer 2018-Current
Tech start-up focused on developing next generation digital guitar and platform.
In my senior year of college I invented a new type of electronic musical instrument. A professor advised me to patent it, and start a company to make more of them. I took this advice.
In my initial role as Founder I interviewed dozens of engineers and gave many presentations to senior design groups at several colleges with the intent to build a team. Eventually I succeeded in recruiting a very talented and multi-disciplinary group of engineers.
I then applied to and got accepted in the prestigious Saunders Business Accelerator in New York.
It was a 3 month intensive program focused on bringing business ideas from ideation to market entry.
In this role I stepped away from doing the engineering to focus on coordinating the engineering, establishing requirements, and managing the scope, budget, and schedule of initiatives. I also worked with others to develop our business plan, marketing plan, and go to market strategy.
During this time I not only successfully led the development and first public demonstration of our original technology and software, but I also oversaw the completion of 300 customer discovery interviews, while simultaneously delivering frequent presentations to potential investors across the country.
At the conclusion of the accelerator we gave a shark tank style presentation to a panel of judges during which our business won its first investment, which I used to begin development of our first commercial release.
During the next year the size of our team doubled, I began a partnership with the Rochester Institute of Technology, and I began to place in business pitch competitions across the state, such as the NextCorps competition in 2020.
Work with the Brazen House is ongoing.
United States Navy. Electronics Technician. Missile System Supervisor May 2008 – May 2014
After two years of Naval electronics schooling during which I graduated first in my class, I was assigned to a ship in Jacksonville Florida. Two week later I was deployed for the first time to the Persian Gulf.
On my first deployment I was a technician. It was my job to operate the ship's cruise missile fire control system, perform preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance when the system broke down.
The system included radar transmitters, fire control computers, display consoles, parabolic antenna dishes, 400HZ power supply converter cabinets, switchboards, power panels, logic level converter cabinets, optical and magnetic disk recorder/reproducers, microprocessors, AC motors, and fiber optics.
I'm qualified at the Journeyman's level to repair all of the above.
In this role I earned my first Naval Achievement Medal, for operating and repairing deadly, mission critical weapons systems in a high pressure combat environment.
On my second middle eastern deployment I was promoted to Work Center Supervisor. In this role I supervised 10 personnel, scheduling and driving the safe and timely completion of weekly maintenance. Additionally I coordinated the dispersal of funds from a 7 million dollar maintenance budget, trained junior personnel, and prepared weekly reports for senior personnel.
On my third middle eastern deployment I was promoted to Leading Petty Officer (LPO). In this role, working directly under the division chief, I supervised all work centers in the missile system division (30 personnel), holding them accountable through counselling and training for the safe, timely, and accurate completion of 1000's of hours of maintenance quarterly.
While in this position I earned my second Naval Achievement Medal, for maintaining 100% working efficiency throughout the entire missile system, and ensuring 100% personnel qualifications in all work centers, during INSURV, the Navy's most intense 5 year inspection for Ticonderoga class cruisers.
